Tried And Tested
Green Mile Equine Bedding has been "Tried and Tested" for a feature in Horsemart Magazine and the results have been outstanding!! To read the actual report from the tests please go to our Client Testimonials page
There is little waste of the bedding when removing droppings - even with a poo burier! - although I have found it is better to use a plastic shavings fork as the prongs are slightly wider apart, making it easier to remove droppings and leave bedding. It is also possible to throw droppings against the bank to separate them from the bedding - as one does with shavings.
The amount of bedding removed every day is very minimal as for the majority of the time, this is droppings alone. This of course means I am making a minimal contribution to the muck heap. The bedding is also wind resistant and therefore disinclined to blow around the yard. Its a little to early to be able to feed back on the biodegradability - they say it takes 8-12 weeks to break down. Less of a muck heap to have to remove is a great advantage to my yard owner!
Tweed has been disinclined to 'dig' this bed - it stays pleasantly in place, it also seems to resist his scuffing the bed forward. During the winter months, the absorbent nature of this bedding will protect Tweed's rugs from becoming so easily soiled and I see the absorbency of this bedding highly advantageous in respect of the increased stable time Tweed will need to endure. Another advantage the company literature states is that the air contained within the corrugations acts as an insulator to maintain warmth on those cold nights - a true 'hot water bottle' for horses!
Tweed has not walked any of the bedding pieces out of the stable - a great advantage to tidy yards!
So don't be put off by the sound of corrugated cardboard bedding - Green Mile is really clean, effortless, highly absorbent and extremely cost effective. I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to try this and reckon I am definitely a new customer for Green Mile from now on! You really must give this a go!
